Email Configuration on Outlook, Thunderbird, and Mobile Devices (IMAP/SMTP) Print

  • 0

If you have created a professional email account within cPanel and want to manage your messages using external clients like Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, or directly on your mobile device (Android/iPhone), you will need the secure connection settings (SSL/TLS).

Universal Secure Configuration Settings (Recommended)

Regardless of the application or device you are running, always select the Manual Setup or Advanced Settings option and insert the following parameters:

Setting Value / Parameters
Username Your full email address (e.g., contact@your-domain.com)
Password The password you assigned to this account in cPanel
Incoming Server (Inbound) mail.your-domain.com
Outgoing Server (SMTP/Outbound) mail.your-domain.com

Secure Connection Port Numbers (SSL/TLS):

  • Incoming Port IMAP (Recommended): 993
  • Note on IMAP: Keeps messages synchronized across the server and all your devices simultaneously.
  • Incoming Port POP3 (Alternative): 995
  • Note on POP3: Downloads messages to your local computer and wipes them from the server.
  • Outgoing Port (SMTP): 465
⚠️ Outgoing Authentication (SMTP): While configuring Outlook or smartphone apps, ensure you check the box stating "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" and choose "Use same settings as my incoming mail server". Without this enabled, you will receive incoming mail but won't be able to send any outgoing messages.

How to locate these parameters inside cPanel automatically:

If you prefer an automated route, cPanel provides ready-to-run auto-configuration profiles for Apple systems and desktop software. Simply log in to cPanel > Email Accounts, find your specific address in the directory, and click the Connect Devices button. The layout will supply direct download scripts tailored for your preferred app.
