How to set up automatic domain redirection Print

  • 0

If you purchased additional domains to safeguard your brand identity (for instance, registering both .com and .co.mz extensions) or if you have rebranded your project, you can set up an automatic redirect. This ensures that any visitor typing your secondary address is instantly forwarded to your primary website.

Option 1: Setting up Redirection in cPanel

If you are using a cPanel plan (Starter, Standard, Plus, or Premium), follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your cPanel dashboard via your Client Area.
  2. In the search box, type Redirects and click on the utility icon.
  3. Configure the following fields:
    • Type: Select Permanent (301) — this tells search engines like Google that the address has permanently moved.
    • https?://(www.)?: Select the secondary domain name you want to redirect away from.
    • Redirects to: Enter the full destination URL of your main website (e.g., https://your-main-website.com).
  4. Click the Add button.

Option 2: Setting up Redirection in CyberPanel

If you are running on a high-performance CyberPanel environment (Cloud Lite, Standard, or Advanced), follow these instructions:

  1. Log in to your CyberPanel dashboard.
  2. On the sidebar menu, navigate to Websites and click List Websites.
  3. Click Manage right next to the secondary domain you wish to configure.
  4. Scroll down to the advanced section and click on Rewrite Rules.
  5. Select the default template for 301 redirection pointing to your primary domain name from the dropdown menu, or insert the specific rewrite rule syntax.
  6. Click Save Rewrite Rules to complete the process.
⚠️ Important Notice: For domain redirection to work properly, your secondary domain must be active and correctly pointed to IMOMA TECH's Nameservers. If the domain has expired or lacks correct DNS records, the redirect will fail.
